Directions for Use
Standard preparation:
1–4 capsules, or a small pinch of powder (approximately ¼ to ½ teaspoon), up to three times a day, or as guided by your Ayurvedic practitioner.
Traditional timing:
Taking Triphala at night before bed, mixed in warm water, is the most traditional approach, associated with comfortable overnight gut transit and morning elimination.
With honey and warm water (traditional):
Mix ½ teaspoon of Triphala with a small amount of Stingless Bee Honey in warm water. Do not mix honey into very hot liquid.
With warm water alone (most common):
Stir ½–1 teaspoon of powder into a glass of warm water and drink, without honey, if preferred.
With ghee (for Vata types):
For a dry or Vata-dominant constitution, Triphala is traditionally mixed with a small amount of warm ghee instead of honey.
Long-term daily use:
Triphala is traditionally used as an ongoing daily tonic rather than a short-term intervention.
Honey on its own:
Enjoy Stingless Bee Honey directly by the spoonful, or stirred into other foods and drinks, separately from Triphala.
Safety: If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking anything prescribed by a doctor, it's best to check with them before use. Start with a smaller amount of Triphala and see how it feels before increasing. Do not use honey for children under 12 months, due to the risk of infant botulism. If you're managing diabetes or blood sugar levels, it's worth chatting with your doctor about how honey fits into your diet. Triphala's traditional use as an eye wash requires particular care and correct preparation; it's best to check with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner before attempting this rather than preparing it yourself without guidance.
