Directions for Use
• Standard preparation: 1–4 capsules or 0.5–2 grams (approximately ¼ to ½ teaspoon of powder), up to three times per day, or as directed by your Ayurvedic practitioner.
• Traditional timing: Taking Triphala at night before bed, mixed in warm water, is the most traditional approach, associated with comfortable overnight gut transit and morning elimination.
• With warm water (most common): Stir ½–1 teaspoon of powder into a glass of warm water and drink.
• With honey and warm water (traditional): Mix ½ teaspoon with a small amount of raw honey in warm water. Do not mix honey into very hot liquid.
• With ghee (for Vata types): For a dry or Vata-dominant constitution, traditionally mixed with a small amount of warm ghee.
• As an oral rinse (traditional): Prepare a Triphala decoction (simmer ½ teaspoon in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes, strain and cool). Traditionally used as a mouth rinse after brushing.
• As an eye wash (traditional, use with particular care): This is a traditional Ayurvedic practice, but using any herbal preparation near the eyes carries real risk if not prepared and strained correctly. Please consult a qualified Ayurvedic or healthcare practitioner before attempting this, and only use a preparation that has been very finely strained and completely cooled.
• Long-term daily use: Triphala is traditionally used as an ongoing daily tonic rather than a short-term intervention.
• Important note: Please consult your healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications. Begin with a lower dose to assess your individual response before increasing.
