About the Bundle

Trikatu, Sanskrit for "three pungents", is one of the most widely used classical formulas in Ayurvedic tradition, cited in both the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita. It combines three warming spices, Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Black Pepper (Piper nigrum), and Pippali / Long Pepper (Piper longum), traditionally used together in Ayurveda as a formula for rekindling Agni (digestive fire).

Honey is traditionally used as a carrier for Trikatu, particularly in relation to Kapha, alongside warm water or ghee (traditionally favoured for Vata constitutions). This bundle pairs Trikatu with Vitality Now's Stingless Bee Honey, raw, unprocessed multifloral honey harvested from stingless bees in the Luwu region of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, so this traditional preparation option is ready together.

This bundle is a traditional wellness pairing, not a medical treatment, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please read the important safety note below regarding medication interactions before use.

Benefits

Traditional Digestive Support

  • Traditionally used in Ayurveda as a direct formula for rekindling Agni (digestive fire), traditionally associated with a slow, cold, or sluggish digestive experience
  • Traditionally used to support comfortable, settled digestion after meals, through its warming, traditionally carminative spice combination
  • Traditionally used in Ayurvedic practice to support the body's traditional process of clearing Ama (accumulated digestive residue)
  • Traditionally associated with supporting natural appetite before meals, considered in Ayurveda a traditional sign of healthy Agni

Traditional Warmth & Seasonal Wellness

  • Traditionally used to support natural warmth and comfortable circulation, particularly favoured for cold, Kapha-dominant, or cold-Vata constitutions
  • Traditionally classified in Ayurveda as balancing Vata and Kapha, the specific formula traditionally indicated for cold, heavy, or sluggish digestive and metabolic constitutions
  • Traditionally used to support seasonal wellness and the body's natural resilience during colder months

Traditional Herbal Formulation Role

  • Traditionally classified in Ayurveda as a Yogavahi (potentiating) formula, traditionally understood to support the traditional action of other herbs taken alongside it, this is a traditional Ayurvedic classification, not a claim about interactions with pharmaceutical medications (see safety note below)
  • Traditionally included in numerous classical Ayurvedic formulations for this reason

A Natural, Traditional Carrier

  • Honey is traditionally used as a carrier for Trikatu, particularly in relation to Kapha, alongside warm water or ghee
  • Raw and unprocessed, Stingless Bee Honey retains its natural floral character, unlike heavily processed commercial honey
  • Multifloral, reflecting the diverse native flora of the Luwu region, giving each batch a distinctive, complex flavour profile

Directions for Use

Honey on its own:

Enjoy Stingless Bee Honey directly by the spoonful, or stirred into other foods and drinks, separately from Trikatu.

Important safety note – medication interactions:Trikatu contains Black Pepper and Pippali, natural sources of piperine. Piperine can affect how the body processes certain medications, potentially increasing their absorption or blood levels. If you take any prescription medication, please consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Trikatu, this applies even if a herb or supplement is described as traditionally supportive of other formulas, as the same property can affect pharmaceutical medications differently and requires professional guidance.

Additional safety notes:Trikatu is a warming formula; those with a Pitta-dominant or heat-sensitive constitution should use with care and in smaller doses. Please consult your healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use honey for children under 12 months, due to the risk of infant botulism. If you have diabetes or another condition affecting blood sugar, consult your healthcare practitioner regarding honey as part of your individual dietary plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the Trikatu & Honey Bundle? +

The bundle includes Organic Trikatu Powder (50g or 200g) and Stingless Bee Honey (200g or 400g).

What is Trikatu? +

Trikatu, meaning "three pungents," is a classical Ayurvedic formula combining Ginger, Black Pepper, and Pippali in equal parts, traditionally used to support Agni (digestive fire). It is not a treatment for any medical condition.

Why is honey included with Trikatu specifically? +

Honey is traditionally used as a carrier for Trikatu, particularly in relation to Kapha, alongside warm water or ghee. This bundle simply pairs Trikatu with one of its traditional companions.

I take prescription medication, is this bundle safe for me? +

Please speak with your doctor or pharmacist before using Trikatu if you take any prescription medication. Trikatu contains piperine (from Black Pepper and Pippali), which can affect how the body processes certain medications. This is an important consideration regardless of how gentle or traditional a herbal product is described as being.

Is Trikatu suitable for every constitution? +

Trikatu is a warming formula traditionally best suited to Vata and Kapha constitutions. Those with a Pitta-dominant or heat-sensitive constitution should use smaller amounts and with care, or consult an Ayurvedic practitioner about whether it's appropriate for them.

Is this bundle safe during pregnancy or for children? +

Consult your healthcare practitioner before use of Trikatu if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Honey must never be given to children under 12 months, due to the risk of infant botulism.
