About This Oil

Pinda Thailam is a classical Ayurvedic oil from the Kerala tradition, distinctive for being one of the tradition's cooling infused oils, rather than the more common warming style. It's traditionally formulated to address the traditional Ayurvedic concepts of excess Pitta and depleted Vata together, traditionally described as heat and dryness occurring at the same time.

Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) and Sariva (Hemidesmus indicus, Indian Sarsaparilla), two herbs traditionally classified in Ayurveda as Rakta Shodhana ("blood-purifying") and cooling, are traditionally infused into a Sesame Oil base. Sesame Oil is traditionally chosen in Ayurveda for its penetrating (Sukshma) quality and its own warming, nourishing character, traditionally considered complementary to the cooling herbs.

Traditional Ayurvedic wellness product. Terms such as "Rakta Shodhana," "Pitta-cooling," and "channel-clearing" describe traditional Ayurvedic concepts and are not claims of medical or physiological effect on the liver, lymphatic system, or hormones. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Benefits

Skin Comfort & Radiance

• Traditionally used to support a naturally clear, cool, and comfortable-feeling complexion, Manjistha and Sariva are traditionally classified as Rakta Shodhana and cooling herbs in Ayurveda

• Traditionally used to support settled, comfortable skin, particularly for warm or sensitive-feeling skin

• Traditionally used to support a naturally even, luminous-looking skin tone with consistent topical use

• Naturally moisturising, Sesame Oil's fatty acid profile supports the skin's natural moisture barrier

Joint & Tissue Comfort

• Traditionally used to support comfortable joint ease and natural tissue comfort through warm oil massage

• Traditionally used to support the nourishment of dry, depleted-feeling joint and skin tissue

• Traditionally classified as a tridoshic joint-comfort oil, traditionally cooling for Pitta-type heat and nourishing for Vata-type dryness

Traditional Pitta-Vata Balance

• Traditionally classified in Ayurveda as Pitta-pacifying, its cooling, soothing nature is traditionally associated with addressing heat, redness, and sensitivity

• Traditionally used to nourish depleted Vata, Sesame Oil's warm, unctuous nature is traditionally considered complementary to the cooling herbs

• Traditionally suited to constitutions where both Pitta and Vata need attention simultaneously, per classical Ayurvedic theory

Directions for Use

Warm the oil gently: Place the bottle in warm water for 5–10 minutes, or warm a small amount between your palms. Do not overheat.

Full body application (Abhyanga): Massage warmed oil generously over the entire body using long strokes on the limbs and circular strokes over the joints.

Focus on areas of warmth or dryness: Pay particular attention to areas that feel warm, sensitive, or dry, such as the face, neck, chest, and joints.

Allow absorption: Leave the oil on for 10–40 minutes. Rest quietly during this time if possible.

Remove with exfoliating gloves and warm water: After absorption, gently scrub off with exfoliating gloves and warm water. This traditional removal method not only removes the oil but supports natural skin cell renewal and a naturally radiant, polished complexion, combining the benefits of Ayurvedic oil massage with gentle natural exfoliation. After showering, finish with a light application of Vitality Now Jojoba Oil to lock in natural moisture and support soft, comfortable, beautifully nourished skin throughout the day.

For skin use: Apply to the face, neck, and décolletage as a nourishing facial oil. Leave on for 20–30 minutes.

For joint comfort: Apply with firm, circular massage strokes to joints, allowing the oil to absorb.

Frequency: Traditionally used daily as part of an ongoing skin and constitutional balance routine or incorporated into a weekly Ayurvedic massage practice.

Safety: For external use only. Perform a patch test before full body use. Not recommended during pregnancy without practitioner guidance. Avoid contact with eyes and broken skin. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
