Fe-Max Iron Tonic aids in the production of red blood cells and the transportation of oxygen in the body. This medicine may not be right for you / your patient. Read the warnings before purchase. Refer to Warnings, Cautions and Contraindications tab in the product information below.

 

Indications:

  • Supports iron levels in the body
  • Aids in the production of red blood cells and the transportation of oxygen in the body
  • Contains iron bisglycinate for reduced gastrointestinal complaints
  • Nettle leaf and Ginger root are traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to support general health and wellbeing

 

Dosage and Administration:

Adults: 5 mL with water or juice 3 times daily.

Warnings, Cautions and Contraindications:

  • Not for the treatment of iron deficiency conditions.
  • Contains potassium sorbate.
  • Contains ethanol 3% v/v.
  • Vitamin and mineral supplements should not replace a balanced diet.
  • Contraindicated in haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis or iron-loading anaemias (thalassaemia, sideroblastic anaemia).
  • Due to Licorice: caution is advised in those taking thiazide or loop diuretics and in those with elevated liver enzymes taking those with elevated liver enzymes taking immunosuppressives; contraindicated in hypertension and oedema.
  • Caution during pregnancy, long-term use is not recommended.
  • If taking levodopa, levothyroxine, methyldopa, penicilamine, quinolones, tetracyclines, bisphosphonates, and cholestyramine, separate doses by at least two hours.
  • Allopurinol, can increase liver storage of iron and should not be used in conjunction with iron supplements.
  • Not recommended in children under 6 years of age.
  • Monitor patients taking thyroxine.
  • Discontinue 7 days prior to general anaesthesia.
